Two agreements signed with Alcatel ( of France ) to revamp, telephone networks in 10 Governorates & add 1.5 million lines therein under Euro 300 million investments.

According to Dr. Ahmed Nazeef, Minister of Telecommunication & Information, two agreements were recently signed with Alcatel ( of France ) to revamp telephone exchanges in 10 Governorates & add 1.5 million new lines therein under Euro 300 million investments. Works involve fiber optics networks, also main & subsidiary telephone exchanges. They further provide for opening a regional center ( Euro 67.1 million ) to support Alcatel activities in the Middle East & Africa after moving its head Quarters to Cairo, also for opening a regional training center under Euro 11 million investments.
