L.E. 12 million protocol was lately signed between the Ministry of Water Resources & Irrigation & the Ministry of Military Production to produce surface irrigation pumps to serve sugar cane plantations. The 1,500 pumps would serve a 2,000 feddans experimental sugar cane plantations area in Qena Governorate. Should the product proves successful, it would be generalized to serve 300,000 feddans cane plantations in Upper Egypt. The scheme aims at saving precious Water resources ( 1.5 billion M3 /year ), also increase the sugar cane crop productivity
