First part of the 750-MW power station project at Cairo North involving the gas turbines package was awarded. Contract has been already signed for two 250-MW gas turbines valued at $102 million. Winner is a Japanese Consortium grouping Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Tomen Corporation, outbidding GE Power Systems of the U.S. Client is EEHS - Egyptian Electricity Holding Company. Meanwhile, bids were opened for the heat recovery steam generators with lowest bid coming from NEM of Holland followed by CMI Utility Boilers of Belgium, and by Alstom of France.
