Contract signed to execute phase 5 of Cairo Metro second line & extend it to Al Mounib, valued L.E. 350 million.

A contract was recently signed to execute phase 5 of Cairo Metro second line & extend it by 2.6 km to Al Mounib, valued L.E. 350 million, for completion in 30 months. The project is backed by a Euro 50 million soft loan ( about L.E. 205 million ) raised by EIB – European Investment Bank. Cost of the previous 4 stages reached L.E. 9 billion extending 19 km from Shoubra El Kheima to Om Al Masreyyeen. The new extension would increase the capacity by 180,000 passengers / day 1.38 million passengers/ day.
